Private Life

I was born on 1972-05-16 in Oldenburg i.O. (Germany).
On 1997-04-10 my first daughter Janka was born.
On 2004-05-27 my second daughter Mia was born.
On 2007-03-06 my third daughter Mara was born.

Education / Civilian Service

School:
- Four years: Früchteburgschule Emden

I did my civilian service at the Osfriesische Beschäftigungs- und Wohnstätten GmbH (OBW) in the IT department. The OBW is a place where mentally handicapped people are looked after.

I studied applied computer science/software engineering at the Fachhochschule Ostfriesland. I wrote my final paper Programmierung und Test des Transputernetzes für die Hardware-Framegrabber der Strömungsmessung at the laboratory for parallel processes with Prof. Dr. Siemsen. It is part of a flow measuring project by the Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau (BAW).
I have now the title 'Dipl.-Inf. (FH)'.

I studied bass guitar at the Conservatorium of the Hanzehoogeschool Groningen (Netherlands).

Professional Life

I worked at the Volkwagenwerk Emden in the department 'Systemorientierte Wartung (SOW)', where I took care of the equipment for the final tests of the cars' onboard electronics.

I worked as a software developer for intelliT.E.C., a company founded by me and two friends of mine.
Projects:
- Design and implementation of a multichannel visualisation software using the wxWidgets toolkit.
- Design and implementation of an application for automatic layout of print media with C++/Java (Swing GUI).
- Administration of various websites.

I worked as a software developer at NovelScience International GmbH.
Projects:
- Design and implementation of a database for stock market data with MySQL.
- Design and implementation of the AMARIN-Algorithm for stock market prediction in C++.
- QA, data interface design and -implementation for the Screening Data Analyzer of the CyBi-SIENA project of CyBio AG.
- Co-authoring patent application Method and device for the determination of features by analysis of human or animal biological samples, published as EP1189057 (A2), US2002034731 (A1), JP2002131312 (A), DE10042847 (A1) and CA2355904 (A1).

I worked as a software developer at Creative Pharma International GmbH.

- Design and implementation of a Genetic Programming Framework in CommonLisp.
- Research, design, implementation, QA and documentation for the GrafZ-Algorithm for molecule representation (in C++).
- Design, implementation and maintenance of a database for assay measurements with PostgreSQL, C++ and Perl/DBI.

I worked as application programmer at ELV Elektronik AG.

- Maintenance and extension of the PEP Personaleinsatzplanung (personnel planning) application (in Delphi).
- Design and implementation of an ISDN remote control component for the TimeMaster time registration application (in Delphi).

Currently I work as a software developer/researcher at OFFIS.
Activities:
- Design and implementation of a new front-end component for the OSSY SystemC™→VHDL transformation tool for the ICODES project using the C++ parser from EDG.
- Design and implementation of substantial parts of the successor of OSSY called fossy in the ICODES, ANDRES and COMPLEX projects using the EDG C++ parser, an XML intermediate format and a Haskell resp. CommonLisp backend.
- Enhancement of the fossy research prototype to an industrial strength tool.
- Blind reviews of publications for various conferences (e.g. ICCAD, VLSI-SoC, FDL and IESS).
- I published a paper at the Forum on specification & Design Languages 2007 in Barcelona called CSP with Synthesisable SystemC™ and OSSS.
- I made a presentation at the European SystemC™ Users Group meeting in Stuttgart 2008. It was called Integer Data Type Semantics: SystemC™ vs. VHDL
